Intern project : Introduction to machine learning and its applications to SETI

Machine learning is a new powerful technique that has taken the AI world by storm. Various techniques developed by ML researchers have been used to solve problems and demonstrate the power of computers in novel ways never thought possible. Some especially impressive feats include Facebook's face detection algorithms and Google Deepmind beating the best Go player in the world handily.
In this video we go over a couple more popular methods and their results when applied to the problem of classifying radio frequency interference (RFI). Since BSRC stores petabytes of information a week, it's important that we're able to come up with algorithms that are able to filter most of that data quickly and efficiently. Being able to quickly identity whether or not some signal is RFI or not is a possible step in this process.
