This one hour audiovisual lecture is an educational, entertaining and interactive experience that takes you on a journey with one of the founding fathers of Hip Hop, Grandmaster Flash. As the architect of the quick mix theory and science behind turntablism, Grandmaster Flash will show you how as teenager he used his knowledge of electronic repair to begin experimenting in his bedroom with different styles and techniques. These innovations continue to be the foundation of the art form today. During the lecture he will visually layout out the formulas and concepts using 2 turntables equipped with live cameras. Additionally, he will show classic footage of his extensive record collation. Those in attendance will experience a once in a lifetime hip hop history lesson from one of the creators and legend in the genre

One of the founding fathers of hip-hop, Grandmaster Flash was one of rap's earliest technical pioneers. The deejay (DJ) innovative turntable techniques he experimented with in the 1970s have become synonymous with rap and hip-hop today.
Grandmaster Flash of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five is probably the most influential hip hop name on this list. He has the distinction of being the first hip hop/rap artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he was also the mastermind behind three DJing techniques that are still widely used today: the backspin technique, punch phrasing and scratching.
Joseph Saddler (born January 1, 1958), popularly known by his stage name Grandmaster Flash, is an American DJ and rapper. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of Hip Hop DJing, cutting, scratching and mixing. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, becoming the first Hip Hop act to be honored.[2] In 2019 he won the Polar Music Prize. On May 21, 2022, he acquired an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College.
Grandmaster Flash's albums include Super Rappin, The Message, They Said It Couldn't Be Done and The Bridge: Concept of a Culture.
