Indian markets opened strongly following the announcement of a landmark trade deal between India and the US. U.S. President Trump said the US would reduce tariffs on Indian goods from 50% to 18%, boosting investor confidence.

The BSE Sensex surged nearly 3,600 points at the open, crossing 85,000, while Nifty 50 jumped around 1,200 points to trade above 26,000. Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports led gains, while only Nestle, ONGC, and Coal India traded in the red.

Market strategists said the deal could attract fresh foreign investment. The rupee also strengthened, opening at around 90.50 per dollar, with USD/INR expected to move toward 88.5–89 in the coming weeks.
