He discusses how the army is tackling the problem of terrorism and the role of youth in it. He emphasizes that terrorism can be dealt only by attacking the mindset of young people proselytized and involving the society for their help. Having served in Indian army for 40 years, he was an active member of India-USA Defence Cooperation and Strategic Partnership initiatives. He participated in Indo-Pak war in 1965 inKashmir. He was the one who trained Mukti Bahini in Bangladesh before war of liberation. D.B.Shekhar headed the 11-member committee constituted for the enhancement of combat capabilitiesof the armed forces. The Committee has recommended to the government to not to reduce its "combat strength" at a time the country is facing hostility from Pakistan.He has co-authored 12 books on Security, Terrorism, Internal Security, and Intelligence.
