Hello all
When the weather is rubbish, just head to a bothy to meet strangers, laugh and swap stories of life.

This beautiful little bothy tucked away in the hills in Dumfries and Galloway was just perfect to stay for a night.
I like getting away and trying new things in the wild and care about peoples privacy so at this bothy i met 3 guys so i decided to work my video around them so i could do a video and give them the peace they needed.

Burleywhag Bothy is located in the Dumfries & Galloway hills not to far from Thornhill. Parking is in lay-by at the side of the country road then about a three mile walk into the hills following hill tracks which are pretty good walking. The last 300 yards to the bothy are pretty wet and marshy underfoot so care is needed if you have kept dry up to then.
The Bothy its self has a main room with table, shelves, many historical pictures on the wall and a new stove fire in place.
A small room off leads to a wooden floored sleeping area fitting 3 or 4 people a second room further down has a sleeping platform for 2 people and is also a maintenance area so ladders and some equipment is kept so care is needed.
I slept in the main room which was comfortable enough.
A good supply of wood and coal was left and we had a warm and cosy fire going most of the night, along with candles, they gave plenty light.
I would have to say dont rely on wood and coal to be there so i would say bring a smell supply just incase and also bring candles, matches or a lighter as it was very dark inside.

Burleywhag Bothy is run and maintained by the mountain bothies association and do a fantastic job on doing so. Hats of to them for they great job they do keeping it in working operation.

I don't have any fancy kit away with me and like to put it out there that you don't have to spend a fortune to do the adventures i do and to get to the paces i go. As long as you have reasonably good clothing and waterproofs to keep you dry and warm you will be ok. things like sleeping bag to keep you warm will depend on how well you actually feel and deal with the cold so look in a a decent sleeping bag.

Just want to say thank you to everyone who watches, likes, shares and comments on the videos its humbling to see.
I will try answer as many comments as i can.

If you have never tried a bothy check out the Mountain Bothies association link above for your nearest one, they are free to use but respect the rules by taking away your rubbish, leave it tidy and clean and don't damage anything. accidents do happen and if for some reason something does break get in contact with the mountain bothies association and just let them know then someone can pop out and are aware of the issue. They would appreciate your honesty and help.

Finally thank you to my Patreon's Greame and Tiana Baker
