SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS

Описание к видео SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS

My childhood memory brings me back to one of my favorite cafeteria meals during my grade school days. Sweet and Sour Meatballs! Who doesn’t love meatballs when we were young? And don’t we love all things sweet and sour? I will attempt to recreate that dish based on my memory of how it looked and tasted or probably do my version of it.
Watch, enjoy and let the cooking do the talking.

Ingredients:

For meatballs:
ground pork
onions (chopped)
spring onions (chopped)
parsley (chopped)
garlic (chopped)
breadcrumbs
soy sauce
egg
salt
pepper

For the sweet and sour sauce:
oil
ginger
onion
bell pepper
pineapple juice (plus a tbsp of vinegar)
brown sugar
slurry
ketchup (optional)
vinegar (optional)

Recipe:

Step 1 - In a large bowl, combine ground pork, onions, spring onions, parsley, garlic, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, egg, pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly.

Step 2 - Scoop a portion of the mixed mixture and form it into a ball. (Wet hands every now and then.)

Step 3 - Heat a pan with cooking oil. Once the oil is hot enough, pan-fry the ball-shaped mixture until these turn brown.

Step 4 - Transfer the cooked meatballs to a bowl. Set aside.

Step 5 - Heat a separate pan or wok. Saute garlic, onions, and bell pepper. Then add pineapple juice and brown sugar. Mix until these are blended with the other ingredients.
Add pepper, salt, and the remaining soy sauce. Mix well.

Step 6 - Now, add the cooked meatballs and slurry to the sauce. Let it simmer until the sauce thickens.

You are now set to serve this wonderful dish!
