Spooling in your winch rope: After you've spooled the first wrap with hand tension, attach rope to an anchor (tree or another Jeep recovery point) then back up until rope becomes taut. Set the vehicle in neutral and lightly apply the brakes while spooling in. Alternatively you can pull vehicle up a slight incline. Carefully work the rope side to side as you spool in. Take extreme care not to put your hands too close to the fairlead.
