The Rick Simpson Tapes: Part 1

After talking to Jack Herer, I decide to catch a plane to Nova Scotia to interview a man who has been giving his neighbors free cannabis oil to cure disease, and he reported having surprising success fighting cancer, diabetes and other disorders.

But when I land at the airport, Canadian customs discover a roach in my luggage and arrest me. I was scheduled to be deported on the next flight, but that wasn't until the next morning. So I plead guilty and they let me go to a motel for the night, where I called Rick Simpson, who picked me up and drove me to his house.

I'm the first media to arrive, although Simpson's been trying for years to get any press to listen to him.

I return to the office the next morning with hours of shot tape of Rick and his patients, as well as his handshake agreement to do a book and film. I write one of my last great articles in High Times, but when NORML finds out about the article, they pressure Michael Kennedy to pull the story. Too late, the issue was printed, otherwise it never would have seen the light of day.

However, Michael Kennedy, the lawyer who stole High Times from the employees, blocks both book and film projects from manifesting.

But that was nothing new. He also blocked a Cannabis Cup film about my ceremonies that had been green lighted by Lion's Gate. Kennedy tortured me for years hoping I would quit. I was the last real employee shareholder left standing as Kennedy had been successful in driving everyone else away. He also took away my tapes and it took five years to get them back. At least I got my lawyer's fees back as well.
