The Sevillano Olive was brought to North American from Spain by Franciscan monks for the use of its oil in religious ceremonies. First planted in Southern California, Sevillano groves were pressured to move north, due to an expanding population. Now, most olive orchards exist in Northern California—some as old as 150 years!
