The twin #Myanmar earthquakes are not just disasters, but a public health emergency over an already existing humanitarian crisis. With the monsoon approaching, the risk of #dengue and malaria is increasing, with water sources contaminated, shared temporary toilets overwhelmed, TB treatment and care disrupted, and essential medicines for noncommunicable diseases severely limited.

A month into the devastating earthquakes, WHO continues to work with local partners to deliver essential medical supplies and deploy emergency medical teams (EMTs) on ground for people to access the health services they need – so far, 170 tonnes of supplies delivered and 22 EMTs deployed!

But the emergency is far from over! WHO has appealed for $8M to continue operations, prevent disease outbreaks, and sustain delivery of essential care for those who need it the most.

WHO stands with the people of Myanmar in these trying times, to help them respond, restore, recover and rebuild.
