Gemiknight96 and I are back to EarthBound here on #SuperOldGameSaturday, which I almost ruined due to me mismanaging the restore points on the Nintendo Switch Online that we're playing this on. As such, we had to redo a portion of the events we experienced in Part 1 and I'm deeply sorry for that mistake (which I found out how to avoid for future parts, which I explain in detail here), but Gemiknight96 and the best chat on Twitch were thankfully understanding of this and we DID make a good amount of additional progress on new events in this 1995 Super Nintendo RPG, while also giving a bit of additional context to some of what we saw last time. For that, we can thank Gemiknight96 and the book about this game's translation that he brought with him (it's in the Link List below and makes for a great gift idea for the gamers in your life this holiday), which gave some great information about earlier parts of the game and the later sections we experienced here, including us finding all of the members of our party, going to a strange and backwards neon town, seeing the Runaway Five again, understanding the power of the Mani Mani Statues we've seen so far, going into the desert and, of course, showing off some unique tricks with the game and going into more about its pop-cultural and musical references. On top of that, we went deeper into the translation differences between this and Japan's Mother 2, discussed how we react to translation changes between regions and even game releases, did some live checks into game mechanics and the great luck Gemiknight96 and I had this part and enjoyed the company of both familiar and new faces in our great chat. So, yes, even though some of this part was repeated from last time, we ended up in a good spot and gave you more to enjoy, to which I thank the chat and, as always for this game, Gemiknight96 for being our leader through this terrific game (including one of the most original and daring parts of the game, as you'll see here).
