To begin, I added some audio to my timeline and now it's time to create and assign audio to a bus in Davinci Resolve. To do this, go to the Fairlight page and open the mixer panel. Drag the edge of the mixer panel to make it bigger for easy navigation. Buses are a simple mechanism that allows us to group audio tracks and apply effects and EQ to them all at once.

To create a new bus, click on the bus format option from the Fairlight menu. Next, click on add bus and double-click on the newly created bus to change its name. Set its format to stereo and customize its color if desired. Now, expand the mixer panel again and you will see that the bus has been successfully added to the mixer.

Here, I have 4 audio tracks that are currently assigned to bus 1, but I want to assign my first and second tracks to my newly created bus. To do this, simply click on the buttons next to the tracks to remove them from bus 1. Then click on the plus button and select your bus to assign tracks 1 and 2 to it. However, when playing the audio, you may not hear anything yet. That's because you need to assign your bus to bus 1, which is the main bus. To do this, click on the plus button above your bus and select bus 1. Now, you can adjust the volume of your bus and track 1 and 2 without needing to change them separately.

There is another way to assign buses in Davinci Resolve. From the Fairlight menu, click on bus assign. Select bus 1 out and click on unassign all to clear all assignments. Then select your desired bus out and click on unassign all again to unassign all tracks. Now, you can see that all the tracks are unassigned. To assign tracks 1 and 2 to your bus, select your bus out and then select audio tracks 1 and 2. If you also wish to assign your bus to bus 1, simply select bus 1 out and then click on your bus. This is another convenient way to assign buses in Davinci Resolve.
