Where's My Mom | Monkey Puzzle

Описание к видео Where's My Mom | Monkey Puzzle

This wonderful book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler was requested by my friend Alison who is starting her new teaching career in Dublin, Ireland.

She actually requested Monkey Puzzle, but unfortunately all I could get at my local library here in Hawaii was the Americanized version called Where's My Mom.

I have already created a few songs for books but this one is my favorite. Partly because it's such a fun book that's full of emotion, but also because I was able to get my children involved in helping me record parts of the song.

I only hope that the song I created lives up to this beautiful book.

Thanks again to Allison for the request and best wishes in your teaching adventures to come.

Update 3/26/14
As requested by Caitlin McNamee here are the chords for this song.

Intro G A D

[G]I've [A]lost my [D]mom

[D]Hush little monkey [G]don't you cry
[A]I'll help you find her said [D]butterfly
Let's have a think how [G]big is she

She's [A]big said the monkey [D]bigger than me

[G]Bigger than you then [D]I've seen your mom
[A]Come little monkey [G]come [A]come [D]come

[G]No no no [A]that's an [D]elephant

The majority of the book follows a similar pattern. The only different chords are towards the end of the book as follows.

[G]Butterfly butterfly [A]can't you see
[D]None of these creatures [G]look like me
[Em]You never told me they [A7]looked like you
Of [D]course I didn't I [G]thought you knew
[G]I didn't know I couldn't you see

[A7]None of my babies look like [D]me
So she [G]looks like you well if [D]that's the case
We'll [A]soon discover her [G]hi[A]ding [D]place
