Fort Sherman Jungle Warfare Training

Discusses Jungle Warfare Training at Fort Sherman, Panama Canal Zone giving a brief history and description of the former training mission that ran from 1951 until 1999. This is part of a series reviewing possible test sites for detecting past herbicide and pesticide use in the Panama Canal Zone based on personal observations and historic documentation. Areas used for instructional classes and those for exercise purposes are discussed. Old photos and maps are shown to compare with the current day views. The former coastal defense batteries are discussed and their long-term role. Discusses the reported role of Fort Sherman in chemical and biological testing and storage.
