rUTIs: Lessons Learned Frm the Microbiome; Comp and Conseqs of Polymicrobial Bacteriuria During Cath

The Uromicrobiota Research Interest Group (U-RIG) includes CAIRIBU* and non-CAIRIBU investigators interested in the uromicrobiota. Investigators are clinicians and scientists from a variety of fields including urology, urogynecology, microbiology, microbial ecology, virology, bioinformatics, and computer and data science.

The CAIRIBU U-RIG Research Hour aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and spur collaborations in the urobiome and adjacent fields. May's U-RIG Research Hour features talks from Nazema Siddiqui, MD, MHSc (Duke University), who discusses “Recurrent UTI – lessons learned from the microbiome,” and Chelsie Armbruster, PhD (State University of New York at Buffalo), who discusses “Composition and consequences of polymicrobial bacteriuria during long term catheterization.”

*Collaborating for the Advancement of Interdisciplinary Research in Benign Urology (CAIRIBU) is an umbrella organization that brings together NIDDK-funded investigators devoted exclusively to investigating benign genitourinary diseases and disorders. A primary objective of CAIRIBU is to encourage interdisciplinary interactions and build effective research collaborations that can tackle the most critical questions related to benign prostatic hyperplasia, urolithiasis, bladder disorders, urinary tract infection, pelvic pain, and genitourinary developmental disorders.
