This is the romantic moment a man proposed to his girlfriend underwater - with an engagement ring hidden inside a conch shell.

Georges Yaghi, 35, got down on one knee on the floor of the Caribbean Sea to pop the question to Sidney Wilson, 29, as their friends held up a sign reading: "Will you marry me?"

Georges and Sidney, of Henderson, Nevada, embraced as stingrays and octopuses swam around them.

However they were unable to kiss because of the bulky Sea Trek helmets they were wearing.

Georges, who works in commercial real estate, said: “I was watching all the sea life and I saw Sidney right in front of me.

“The divers told her to look behind her and when she turned around I was on my knee with the ring in a shell.

“She couldn’t say no - she was underwater. The we all started dancing underwater.”

Georges meticulously planned the proposal after Sidney surprised him with tickets to Playa del Carmen in Mexico for his 30th birthday.

He said: “I started looking at activities in Mexico as I’m very into adventures.

“I saw that you could go diving with a Sea Trek helmet on and you can walk underwater.

“I got a ring customized from Dubai and I told all my friends the plan.”

The couple were accompanied by six of their friends on the vacation where they stayed at the Hotel Xcaret México in Riviera Maya.

Sidney, who works in healthcare sales and marketing, was shocked by the elaborate underwater proposal in April 2017.
