How Portugal Solved Their Drug Crisis

In 2001, Portugal made a radical decision to decriminalize all drugs. Twenty years into this change, Portugal has seen lower rates of incarceration, overdose, and increased voluntary treatment for people who use drugs.

As the U.S. faces an overdose crisis, and threats to drug policy reform, we have a lot to learn from Portugal’s health and human centered approach.
