A job interview is an interview consisting of a conversation between a job applicant and a representative of an employer which is conducted to assess whether the applicant should be hired.

Interviews are one of the most popularly used devices for employee selection.

Interviews vary in the extent to which the questions are structured, from a totally unstructured and free-wheeling conversation, to a structured interview in which an applicant is asked a predetermined list of questions in a specified order;[3] structured interviews are usually more accurate predictors of which applicants will make suitable employees, according to research studies.

A job interview typically precedes the hiring decision. The interview is usually preceded by the evaluation of submitted resumes from interested candidates, possibly by examining job applications or reading many resumes. Next, after this screening, a small number of candidates for interviews is selected.

Potential job interview opportunities also include networking events and career fairs. The job interview is considered one of the most useful tools for evaluating potential employees.

It also demands significant resources from the employer, yet has been demonstrated to be notoriously unreliable in identifying the optimal person for the job.[5] An interview also allows the candidate to assess the corporate culture and demands of the job.

প্রথমেই আসুন জেনে নেই নার্ভাস হওয়ার কারণগুলো কী কী?
১। ভালো সিভি না থাকার জন্যে অনেকে তিন চার মাসেও একটি কল পান না। যখন কল পান, তখন নার্ভাস হয়ে পড়েন। ইমোশনালও হয়ে যান অনেকে।

২। চাকরিটি না হলে কী যে হবে, এই চিন্তা অনেকেরই কাজ করে। কারো পারিবারিক, কারো প্রণয়ঘটিত, এক এক জনের এক এক টেনশন।

৩। কথা বাংলায় বলতে হবে নাকি ইংরেজিতে এটা নিয়ে অনেকে নার্ভাস থাকেন।

৪। রেজাল্ট তো আমার ভালো না, আমারতো চাকরিতে গ্যাপ আছে, আমি তো সেক্টর চেঞ্জ করছি, এগুলো নিয়ে যদি কিছু জিজ্ঞেস করে কী যে বলবো।

৫। যে যে কাজের কথা বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে লেখা আছে তার কোন একটি হয়তো জানেন না যা আপনাকে নার্ভাস করে তোলে। টেকনিকাল প্রশ্ন কী হতে পারে তা নিয়েও অনেকে টেনশান করেন।

৬। যারা চাকরি করেন, হয়তো ডিউটি আওয়ারে কাজ ফাঁকি দিয়ে আসেন। বস ফোন দেয় কিনা, ক্লায়েন্ট মেইলের উত্তর না পেয়ে হার্ট ফেইল করে কিনা, সেই চিন্তায় আপনার হার্ট এইদিকে লাফালাফি শুরু করে দেয়।

৭। ইন্টারভিউ দিতে অপেক্ষমান অবস্থায় ফেসবুকিং বা অফিসে কথা বললে টেনশান বাড়ে।

৮। আমার তো অত্র কোম্পানিতে পরিচিত কেউ নেই, আমার কি চাকরি হবে? এটা নিয়ে অনেকে ভাবেন।

৯। কোন প্রশ্নের উত্তর না জানলে, সেটার জন্যে টেনশান বাড়ে। রিক্রুইটারের সাথে তর্ক করতে গেলে টেনশান বাড়ে।

১০। ইন্টারভিউ দিতে যে যাচ্ছেন, সেটা কেউ জেনে গেল কিনা সেটা একটা কারণ। ট্রাফিক সমস্যার কারণে ইন্টারভিউ দিতে দেরি হলে টেনশান বাড়ে, ঘাম হয়।
