Asarco El Paso Smelter Tour

For more than 110 years the El Paso Smelter was a major economic driver in El Paso, Texas, employing more than 25,000 people. In 1997-1998, video crews were allowed exclusive access inside the former Asarco smelter just prior to the plant being mothballed. In 2010, TV crews were again allowed exclusive and unlimited access to videotape the El Paso Smelter just before the plant was demolished as part of the company's bankruptcy reorganization.
This video tour is the only time that TV crews had unlimited access to record the plant and its operation. Led by smelter retirees Ed Santiesteban and Hamilton Underwood, this video will present an insider's view never seen before.
