Eden Bloom - Real Men (Joe Jackson cover)

I had written out a few prime notes on this cover and attach them to the wrong version of the video. So this is a recreation, a tribute if you will to the previous notes.

First, I want to recognize that I wouldn’t say the N-word when I cover a hip hop song so I’m not going to use some of the language in this song. While I hope that this is considered an expression of solidarity, I would never presume to be so down as to use, culturally significant language even in a cover song, even as an ‘ally’ or what ever the term is for being a decent human being these days.

I remember when I first discovered this track on my father‘s copy of night and day. I was 12 or 13 when it came out and I already had been called the F word so I heard it in this song. It was like a door to a mystery had been opened, and it started out a very serious journey exploring my own sexuality.

My voice is rough today due to extra exercises, but I’m trying to work through it.
