Ingredients:
1 cup Chana Dal
3 cups Water
½ tsp Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
For Masala & Tadka:
2–3 tsp Ghee
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1–2 Dry Red Chillies
1 Green Chilli (optional, slit)
A pinch of Hing (asafoetida)
½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Coriander Powder
½ tsp Garam Masala
Fresh Coriander leaves

Step-by-Step Process (No Onion No Garlic):
1. Boil the Chana Dal
Wash and soak chana dal for 30 minutes. Pressure cook with water, turmeric, and salt for 3–4 whistles until the dal is soft but holds its shape.
2. Prepare Basic Masala
Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and dry red chillies. Let them crackle. Add hing and green chilli.
3. Add Spices
Lower the flame and add red chilli powder and coriander powder. Mix quickly to avoid burning.
4. Add Boiled Dal
Add the boiled chana dal to the pan. Adjust consistency with water if needed. Simmer for 5–7 minutes on low flame.
5. Final Tadka Touch
Add garam masala and fresh coriander leaves. Mix gently and turn off the flame.

Serving Suggestion:
Serve this satvik chana dal hot with steamed rice, jeera rice, or phulka for a light and comforting meal.
