Kristen Mello '14 and Amber Litterer '16 spent 10 weeks at the Shoals Marine Lab, on Appledore Island, investigating the underwater habitat and architecture among the Isles of Shoals.

Thanks to a recent gift from the Rutman family, Amber and Kristen are the first interns to be accepted into the brand new Near Shore Ecology Internship. Under the guidance of their advisor, UNH Affiliate Assistant Professor Jennifer Dijkstra, Amber and Kristen are looking at the structural complexity of 10 types of algae in the Gulf of Maine.
