It is easy to make a film on a fictional story. But if a film is to be made on a true incident, then good directors back down. And especially the truth that has been suppressed for 32 years. Vivek Agnihotri brought the kashmir files to the screen, the passion he showed is commendable. But very few people know that it took 4 years to make this film. 5000 hours of research has been done, 3 decades old, 15 thousand page documents have been collected. Vivek agnihotri explains, that his wife Pallavi Joshi and he himself had gone to many countries around the world, and many cities of India, to meet the real victim Kashmiri Pandits. And he interviewed more than 700 suffering Kashmiri Pandits. And in many places, while talking to the victims, both of them had tears in their eyes.

एक काल्पनिक स्टोरी पर फ़िल्म बनाना आसान होता हैं। लेकिन अगर किसी सच्ची घटना पर फ़िल्म बनाना हो, तो अच्छे अच्छे director पीछे हट जाते है। और ख़ासकर वो सच जो 32 सालों से दबाया गया हो। विवेक अग्निहोत्री ने the kashmir files को पर्दे पर उतारकर, जो जज़्बा दिखाया वो काबिले तारीफ़ है। लेकिन बहुत कम लोग ही जानते है, कि इस फिल्म को बनाने में पूरे 4 साल लगे है। 5000 घंटे के रिसर्च की गई है, 3 दशकों पुराने, 15 हजार पेज के डॉक्यूमेंट को इकट्ठा किया गया है। विवेक agnihotri बताते हैं, कि उनकी पत्नी पल्लवी जोशी और वो खुद, असली पीड़ित कश्मीरी पंडितों से मिलने के लिए दुनिया भर के कई देशों, और भारत के कई शहरों में गए थे। और उन्होंने लगभग 700 से ज्यादा पीड़ित कश्मीरी पंडितों का इंटरव्यू लिया। और कई जगह तो पीड़ितों से बात करते-करते उन दोनों की आँखों में आंसू आ गए थे।
