Hi Drummers,

Here's how to play the djembe for Djagbe a rhythm from the Malinke people from Mali and Guinea in West Africa. Djagbe is a circle dance played in the late afternoon when the suns heat is less intense. Both men and women join in to celebrate. Djagbe was traditionally played at the end of Ramadan and the Tabaski festival but today it is played at other festivals and celebrations aswell.

In Mali this rhythm is called Madan.

This is our first video for Djagbe. We play the dundunba and kenkenni part, and the first djembe for the beginners and the dundunba and kenkenni part, and the first and second djembe for the intermediate, and experienced drummers.
