Let’s say it is one of those lazy evenings, and it starts raining. You crave to eat something yummy but don’t want to spend too much time cooking. This mysore bonda is just perfect for you!
Mysore bonda is crispy on the outside but fluffy and soft on the inside. People think of deep fried round besan dumplings with some stuffing inside. But these mysore bonda from Karnataka are really special bonda that don’t really have that stuffing. Also, these are made with maida flour rather than besan. These are also perfect snacks for kids and adults alike and can be prepared in just 10-15 minutes.
Mysore bonda are available in most of the restuarants in South Karnataka but whenever I travel via Mysore or Mandya I still make sure to order a plate or two of these.
How to make mysore bonda?
Preparing mysore bonda is super easy. All we need to do is mix all ingredients and deep fry. So you keep oil to heat in a pan for deep frying. Then mix all the ingredients such as maida flour, curry leaves, coriander leaves. Ginger, green chilli, curd, and salt. Add water and mix them all really well. Now just take small batter in your hand and make it into roughly round shape and drop it in oil. Two things to note, it doesn’t have to be perfect round ball. Second, bonda will puff up while deep frying so take a note of it! Once they turn golden brown take out and serve hot!
You can serve mysore bajji with coconut chutney. Or just eat it without any sides like me.
