Food Babe Lie

Ok I know she lies all the time, but this was so blatant 😭

And unfortunately this brand also uses quite a bit of fear based marketing to sell their products. They responded to food babe’s video to explain how the lemon juice is used to “help maintain the right pH of our products. While HPP helps to kill live pathogenic and spoilage bacteria, we do also want to make sure that we’re helping prevent spore forming bacteria from having the chance to germinate. So the combination of refrigeration and maintaining the right pH balance helps to keep our products safe.”

So they’re transparent about using lemon juice for the function of preserving their pouches, but still perpetuate misconceptions and fear of “preservatives” by saying “no preservatives” on the package as well as all over their website and other marketing materials.

Why can’t companies just explain why preservatives can be important in a product like this and that they’re not a bad thing rather than continuing to misinform consumers in order to sell products?
