Aptera Wants Tesla's Charging Connector To Become The Standard. Smart or Stupid?

There are - and have been - many, many different electric car charging standards. Luckily though, when it comes to DC quick charging, there are now five dominant ones, depending on where you live in the world.

CCS Type 1 is the preferred DC quick charging standard in North America and Korea.
CCS Type 2 is preferred in Europe, Australia and Aotearoa
CHAdeMO in Japan
GB-T in China (although that's changing)
and Tesla's Supercharger connector in North America.

While Tesla has its own connector in the U.S. and Canada, and CCS Type 1 is the official adopted EV quick charging standard in both nations, Solar electric vehicle startup Aptera started a petition a month ago calling on the U.S. to drop CCS Type 1 and adopt Tesla's standard instead.
