HORROR HIT LIST REVIEW

What a movie! I've seen the original version of this movie, but this version was the slightly better one, in my opinion (many will disagree, I'm sure).

Hold onto your popcorn, folks, because "Funny Games" (2007) is like taking a rollercoaster ride on steroids! Strap in tight and prepare to have your mind twisted like a pretzel!

So, you thought your vacation home was your sanctuary, right? Think again! This movie takes the simple act of borrowing eggs to a whole new level of insanity.

It all starts when a couple head to their vacation home for a break with their young son and dog. They see the neighbours acting a little strangely as they drive past but think little of it. Then there is a knock at the door – a young man asking if the neighbour can borrow some eggs…it all goes downhill from there. Who knew a carton of eggs could lead to such chaos? Not your everyday omelette, that's for sure!

Michael Pitt's portrayal of creepiness is so spot-on, it's like he graduated from the School of Scary with honours. And let's not forget Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, and Brady Corbet, who deliver performances so spectacular, you'll swear they're auditioning for an Oscar amid all the chaos!

From the moment the two young men come onto the scene, you know things are about to go downhill faster than a bobsled team on an ice slide. Amid all the madness, there's something oddly amusing about the movie. Like, who knew a home invasion could be so posh? It's like the invaders took a crash course in refined brutality.

There are some moments that'll make you question your sanity – like rewinding scenes and wondering if you accidentally slipped into an alternate reality. But hey, that's all part of the quirky charm of this movie!

FINAL THOUGHTS

I truly found this movie to be gripping. It had just the right combination of weird, quirky, horror, brutality, and tension. Well worth watching the original one from the 1990s as well to compare the two.
