We visited the St. Joseph’s Centre of Hope for Women, a crisis pregnancy centre in Toronto that once shared a wall with an abortuary, the Cabbagetown Women’s Clinic.

Earlier this year, the abortuary moved out. So we went inside the now-empty space… and what we found on the wall was chilling.

A fetal growth chart — listing the head size, foot length, crown-rump length, estimated weight, and gestational sac size of preborn babies, measured in millimetres and grams. These weren’t used to celebrate life. They were used to plan death.

Each number helped determine the method of abortion, the dosage of drugs like Misoprostol and Digoxin, and how much to bill the government under OHIP — all to end the life of a baby.

There is no legal protection for the preborn in Canada. What we saw was a sobering reminder: abortion isn’t healthcare. It’s violence. And it must end.
