Your starters are Bud Black for the Royals and Tom Seaver for the White Sox as the Royals making their way up in the American west with 2.5 games out of the Division behind the California Angels and Chicago being 8 games out of the American west at this point in the 1985 season.
Kansas City takes the early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a fielders choice as Seaver settles down giving up only three hits through 8 innings. Chicago comes up with a run in the 8th inning after a lead off double from Luis Salazar as (Kansas City brings in reliever Dan Quisenberry to replace Black.) a sac fly from Carlton Fisk ties the game after the 8th. White Sox reliever Bob James comes in the 9th inning to replace Seaver who pitches 8 innings giving up the one run on 5 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2.
In the White Sox 9th a Double from Jerry Hairston moving Rudy Law to Third and a error from Royals 2B Frank White an in between hop off the bat of Luis Salazar scoring Scott Fletcher to win the game for Chicago. Bob James with the win (5-5) Dan Quisenberry picks up the loss (6-7)
