K-pop Idol music has now become a genre of a certain style. Group choreography that's perfect in sync. Particularly for males, the story of rebellion and meandering youth. Thus, this kind of music is no longer a unique and original identity but universal and cloned.

However, OnlyOneOf proposed that they could be its original group doing their original music if there can be a pursuit for existential direction instead of following the tradition of the existing male idol form, if the form maybe different and there is room to express differently from conventional male idols.

So thus, this was a task for the members to tackle as they journeyed through Part 1 and Part 2.
Not to think too much like idols.
And not to trap our music in the genre of "K-pop idol music."

So following Part 1, Part 2 attempts OnlyOneOf's existential reflection through the coming together of the most musical producers in the current K-Pop scene.

The main single, "a sOng Of ice and fire," produced by Groovyroom, borrows the fantastical perspective of George R. R. Martin. In a virtual space, one season repeats itself for years andyears. And love is like a fantasy that takes place in that virtual space. As long as you and I exist. As long as we love and fight each other. It forms our own story that's different from the flow of time for others. Like fire and ice.

The track "blOOm" produced by Samuel Seo is about beginnings. Even the most generic love stories all have their beginnings and beginnings all hold unique meanings for individuals, and thus, are all different. As such, even though there are thousands of people all over the world that were born on August 27th, the 'completion' of each individual lives are different, and thus, every single one of us are precious.

The track "Off angel" produced by JR Groove is an antipodal reponse to the GRAY-produced "angel" in Part 1. If Part 1's "angel" was an angel with wingsl, "Off angel" is an angel without. It is not the heaven's ideal but an angel of this space right here right now. However, just because "Off angel" is without wings, there is no need to pity it and feel sorry. Because this is a story about you right here, right now.

OnlyOneOf aspires to become a team that always questions and proves. It is not about breaking or not breaking the form, framework, and standards set by the world, for such discussions are no outdated.

Rather, it is about connecting dots and lines to form planes, and in turn, newly creating the form and framework.

아이돌 음악이란 이제 하나의 스타일을 가진 장르가 되어버렸다. 딱 맞아 떨어지는 칼군무. 남자의 경우 청춘의 반항과 방황의 서사. 그것은 이제 자신만의 아이덴티티가 아니라 보편적이고도 복제되어버린 음악이다.

하지만 그 형태와 다르더라도. 평소 남자 아이돌과 같은 행동을 하지 않아도. 남자 아이돌의 형태를 답습하는 것이 아닌 실존적인 방향을 추구한다면 온리원오브는 우리만의 음악을 하는 유일한 그룹이 될 수 있지 않을까 물었다.

이것은 Part 1과 Part 2를 통과하는 동안 멤버들에게 주어졌던 숙제였다.
너무 아이돌인 것처럼 생각하지 말 것.
그리고 우리의 음악을 아이돌에 가두지 말 것.

그래서 Part 1에 이어 Part 2는 K-POP 씬에서 가장 음악성을 가진 프로듀서들이 모여 온리원오브의 실존주의적인 성찰을 시도한다.

그루비룸이 프로듀싱한 타이틀 곡 ‘얼음과 불의 노래(a sOng Of ice and fire)’는 조지 R.R. 마틴의 판타지적인 시점을 빌려본 곡이다. 한 계절이 몇 년이고 지속되는 가상의 공간. 마치 사랑은 그렇게 가상의 공간에서 이루어지는 판타지와도 같다. 너와 내가 있는 동안에는. 서로가 그렇게 애정하고, 싸우는 동안. 타인의 시간과 흐름과는 달리 우리만의 이야기가 된다. 얼음과 불처럼.

서사무엘이 프로듀싱한 ‘탄생화’는 시작에 관한 이야기이다. 흔한 사랑 이야기들도 전부 시작은 있었다. 그리고 시작은 모두가 다 자신만의 의미가 되어 다를 수 밖에 없다. 전세계에 8월 27일에 태어난 사람들이 수 천만명이라 하더라도 각자의 삶과 각자의 ‘완성’은 다르기에. 하나하나가 결국 소중한 우리.

배진렬이 프로듀싱한 ‘Off angel’은 Part 1의 그레이가 프로듀싱 한 ‘angel’의 반대지점에서 호응하는 곡이다. Part 1의 ‘angel’이 날개 달린 천사였다면 ‘Off angel’은 이른바 날개 없는 천사이다. 천국의 이상향의 그것이 아닌 지금 이 공간의 천사이다. 하지만 ‘Off angel’을 날개가 없다고해서 너무 가여워하거나 불쌍하게 생각할 필요가 없다. 그게 바로 지금 여기. 당신이라는 얘기를 담고 있다.

온리원오브는 언제나 질문하고 증명하는 팀이 되고자 한다. 세상이 만든 형태와 틀. 그리고 기준. 그것들을 깬다 안깬다의 이야기가 아니다. 깨고 안깨고는 이제 촌스러운 이야기니까.

그냥 우리가 점과 선을 잇고 면을 만들어 그 형태와 틀을 새롭게 만든다는 얘기다.
