What does a 26.2 Handicap Golfer Look Like? // 9 Holes // Feb 23, 2023

Well, I'm back. I had made it all the way down to a 20.6 handicap. Then we moved from San Diego to Washington and I stopped taking lessons. I also was only golfing maybe 1-2 times a month. My handicap ballooned so badly that I actually spent most of 2023 hard-capped by USGA so that it wouldn't go up any further. It was eventually stopped at 26.2 at the end of the season (yes, we have golf seasons in Washington, something I'm not used to!)

I also stopped doing both golf and hockey videos, for no real reason. For golf, most of the time I'd record the first couple holes but play so poorly that I'd put the camera away to try to focus on my round. Didn't usually help.

I've been working on my swing over the winter in my home sim and started taking lessons again. They identified a couple really obvious swing flaws that I've been working on. This was my first round since then. Still doesn't count towards my handicap because it's still technically out of season, but that's okay. But thanks to the swing changes and practice, I definitely played better than my handicap. I basically played to my previous cap from before the move.

Still plenty of strokes left on the table though. The OB on 18, some poor chips, and some tee shots that weren't great. There was also the one tee shot where there was a guy pushing his cart while yapping away. That annoyed me even more than the ball that you can see on the tee box that was from another person's shot that nearly hit me.

Anyway, enjoy!
