E-Flite Timber 3D and Bush Flying Demo

Описание к видео E-Flite Timber 3D and Bush Flying Demo

Had a blast putting some cycles through the new E-Flite Timber! This video has some acro (hovering, torque rolls, rolling circles, knifedge), as well as STOL flying (landing in a super confined area).

My set-up isn't fully stock. I have made two changes. The first is that I use an APC 12x6E prop. This prop truly increases the power-to-weight but does definitely put a load on the electronics, so flight time is down to about 5-6 minutes. The second primary mod was taking out the AS3X receiver (this receiver actually limits the travel on the ailerons). I also did a couple other minor mods. The first I did was I put some extra Multiplex Fun Cub tires on. My stock wheels were coming off the tires and were super off-balance so I just put the multiplex ones on and she was good to go. The final minor mod was moving all the control arm attachments to the points that would give me the most travel, mechanically (closest in on the control surface, furthest out on the servos). I did not use expo on this set up at the time as that's what I was used to.

I use a 3s 2200mah 50C battery.

Overall, I am super happy with the Timber.

Pros:

-Excellent 3D capability
-Great STOL capability, minor wing wag present but easy to deal with
-Landing gear system was designed very well
-Awesome aileron and flap concealed servo installation
-Slats do indeed have positive effect on reducing separation and maintaining laminar flow over wing at high angles of attack and low airspeeds

Cons:

-Aileron roll rate is very lethargic (if 3D is your primary cup of tea)
-Battery life is below industry average, even with stock 12x4 prop (about 6-7 minutes)
-Stock wheels came off tires after continual use
-Slats are fragile
-Really wish the battery hatch was on top. Can be a pain to replace battery as one person without a cradle

Overall, I'd highly recommend picking one up!
