Toki Tori is one of the last great games released on the Gameboy Color. The first time I played Toki Tori was its remake on my mom's iPod. I was hooked on the puzzle platformer and its great soundtrack. In fact, I liked it so much that I downloaded the Wiiware release. Then I sought out the original game on the Gameboy Color. I was amazed by the fluid animation and impressive graphical effects like the translucent waterfalls in the first world, Forest Falls. While the level layouts were the same as the remake, I still had just as much fun solving them as I did with the remake. As for the music, Toki Tori has one of the most impressively sounding soundtracks that I heard on the handheld. My favorite track is that of the Creepy Castle. It has a very energetic, yet sinister, beat to it. All of the musical tracks of the game's areas are so long before they loop that when playing the levels, a person playing it would only hear the first 30 or so seconds of the song before going to the next level. That's a shame because we are missing out on great music.

Toki Tori for the Gameboy Color is out on the Virtual Console for the 3DS in the European and Australian regions. Let's hope that they release it in the North American region. Toki Tori 2 is in development which I am so happy about. For a long time I've been wanting to see a sequel to one of my all-time favorite puzzle platformers and it seems that my wishes have been granted.
