This is a result of some families' connections to the Rif Mountains, a geographic region in northern Morocco recognised for being a center for the cultivation of marijuana and hashish. Additionally, some criminals have advanced to cocaine trafficking. The Moroccan Dutch organizations known as the Mocro Maffia are also known for their involvement in armed robberies.
