For nearly five decades, the Festival of Lights has brought the Spirit of Christmas to the people living in and visiting the capital city of the United States of America. The grounds around the Washington D.C. Temple are lit in a way that brings joy to thousands of visitors each year. A Nativity scene greets those visitors at the end of the parking lot as they make their way past the temple’s visitor’s center and toward the temple. Inside the visitor’s center, nearly 100 small interpretations of the Nativity scene from countries around the world comprise an annual creche exhibit.

At this year’s lighting ceremony, Mongolia’s ambassador to the U.S. spoke at the event. A sister missionary serving in the area taught fellow missionaries and a choir of Church members the words to the Christmas hymn “Silent Night” in Mongolian to be sung at the Festival of Lights.
