Cat Stevens Into White (Cover) Lydia Oakeson of Rise Up Children's Choir

Lydia Oakeson sings Cat Stevens’ “Into White” from his seminal album “Tea for the Tillerman.” This is the first recording Lydia ever did with her dad, Gary Oakeson, at age 9. For this video, we have utilized her original vocal track, recorded when she was 9. Lydia then recorded a harmony track which we incorporated into the original recording.

Cat Stevens’ “Into White” lyrics evoke images of nature. It is also a song about color. This song reminds our family of Yellowstone National Park, a fantastical place of prismatic beauty and natural wonders where mud boils, water spouts, and steam rises out of the ground. The colors of the amazing features in the Park range from the brilliant white of Mammoth Hot Springs to the vivid orange and deep aquamarine of Grand Prismatic Spring; from the lush greens of the forest trees to the bright yellows, purples and pinks of the flowers; from the russet and mahogany brown of the buffalo to the crimson red of a robin’s breast. It is a place where our extended family often gathers to spend time together and take in the beauty of God’s amazing creations.
