Prof. Davide Curreli | Plasma-Liquid Surface Interactions

Описание к видео Prof. Davide Curreli | Plasma-Liquid Surface Interactions

In this video, Prof. Davide Curreli of the University of Illinois describes his research and computational modeling which investigates the fundamental processes and applications of plasmas intersecting with liquids.

Fresh, drinkable water is one of our most precious resources, particularly now that we are facing several droughts. Unfortunately, we are not very good stewards of our water resources, with there being substances ranging from discarded pharmaceuticals and PFAS contaminating our water. At the same time there are new health and industrial processes that require or could benefit from adding chemical reactivity to water. Plasmas are a potential solution to both. Plasmas, ionized gases, in contact with liquids such as water can selectively transfer or induce chemical reactivity, for applications ranging from water purification to on-demand liquid fertilizer production.
