Hyundai i20
The all-new i20 is the third generation of Hyundai’s B-segment model, which first launched in 2008. One of the company’s most successful models, the i20 stands for quality, reliability, and practicality. In addition to these core pillars, the all-new i20 introduces a completely new, dynamic style.
The all-new i20 is the first Hyundai car in Europe to feature the company’s new Sensuous Sportiness design identity. It is produced in Europe at Hyundai’s production plant in İzmit, Turkey.
The all-new i20 is the first car in Europe to feature Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design identity. It is characterised by the harmony between four fundamental elements: proportion, architecture, styling and technology. The purpose of this design direction is to create emotional value and to give Hyundai’s vehicles a distinctive new look. The Sensuous Sportiness design provides the all-new i20 with a stylish character that is emphasised by its dynamic-looking front and rear bumpers, as well as its new radiator grille.
At the side, a bold side character line and unique C-pillar design create an appealing look. Meanwhile, the interior space achieves an airy feeling inside the cockpit, while appearing sculptured and appealing. One design highlight is the horizontal blades that cover the high and prominent dashboard. Dynamic proportions also improve roominess and visibility.
The all-new i20 offers best-in-class connectivity with a range of high-tech convenience features, including wireless phone mirroring availability and Hyundai Bluelink technology. The all-new i20 is the first Hyundai model in Europe to feature a premium Bose audio system.
The all-new i20 is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense safety features and complies with the highest European safety standards. Highlights include Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), and Lane Following Assist (LFA).
The all-new i20 is also equipped with eCall, a system which allows the vehicle’s occupants to contact emergency services at the press of a button, or automatically in the case of airbag deployment.
The all-new i20 is available with a 1.0 T-GDi engine with 100 PS or 120 PS. For the first time, a 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain can be applied on this engine, either as an option with the 100 PS or as standard with the 120 PS. The 48-volt system contributes to a 3-4% reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
It is available with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (7DCT), a six speed manual transmission (6MT) or a newly-developed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). iMT de-couples the engine from the transmission to enter into coasting mode, therefore saving fuel. There are two levels of coasting: with the engine still on in idle and with the engine off.
Peugeot 208
Car of the Year 2020, the new PEUGEOT 208 rewrites the book in the B segment. Available with either an Electric engine or an Internal Combustion engine, the New PEUGEOT 208 provides the power of choice to its future driver. Its exterior design embodies the DNA of the Brand with the 3-claw LED front headlights. The carved wheel arches and rear wings are a nod to the « Sacred number ». The PEUGEOT i-Cockpit ® (head-up display, compact steering wheel and touchscreen) innovates with a 3D digital cluster, which is not only aesthetic but also improves safety.
The COTY 2020 rewards a Bestseller. Nearly 110,000 customers have ordered the new PEUGEOT 208 since its launch in Europe in October. 15% of the mix are electric versions. In France, the New PEUGEOT 208 leads the registration rankings of the PC market at the end of February 2020.
“I am particularly proud that the New PEUGEOT 208 has just won the 2020 Car of the Year prize. This trophy underlines the excellence of the work and great commitment of all the teams of the Brand and the Groupe PSA. It’s the first time that a PEUGEOT “2 series” has triumphed! By the way, three PEUGEOT “Cars of the Year” are currently on road with the 3008 and the 308 alongside the new 208. The COTY 2020 legitimates the Brand’s “power of choice” strategy. From now on, our customers will be able to choose between the electric PEUGEOT e-208 “Car of the Year” and the (ICE) PEUGEOT 208 “Car of the Year”! Jean-Philippe IMPARATO, PEUGEOT Brand CEO.
PEUGEOT enters the “top 3” of the brands with the most awards in the Car of the Year history, with six trophies. The New PEUGEOT 208, named Car of the Year 2020, follows the SUV 3008 in 2017, the compact hatch 308 in 2014, the 307 in 2002, the 405 in 1988 and the 504 in 1969.
