We will show you how to disassemble, clean and reassemble the Breville Barista Express BES870XL Grinder, using minimal tools (10mm nut driver, cleaning brush, bamboo skewer, dental floss, vacuum). This process should be done whenever you change the beans you wish to grind, otherwise you may get cross-over of flavours from the retained grinds. Additionally, keeping the unit cleaned out will help extend the life of your grinder!

IMPORTANT - Once disassembled, you will find a felt ring that sits on the bottom of the shaft that turns the burr grinder. This felt ring is designed to reduce any grounds getting into the shaft and ruining the machine. Treat it very carefully, it is extremely easy to tear! Once torn, it is no longer usable. I have spoken to Breville and they have told me it is not needed and the grinder can be used without the felt ring.
