Tucked away an hour outside the bright lights of NYC, lays the serene towns of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. Well known for their waterfront views of the Hudson River. Nestled along the river is the Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow Riverwalk and Lighthouse which is actually part of the bigger Westchester County Riverwalk, a 51 mile walkway along the Hudson.

This portion of the walk offers great views of the Palisades on the other side, the Tappan-Zee Bridge which connects Nyack to Tarrytown and of course the Sleepy Hollow-Tarrytown Lighthouse. As you continue to walk down you will see restaurants, piers, green areas, benches and more to make your experience as relaxing as possible.

The Tappan-Zee Bridge was first built back in 1955 and connects Nyack in Rockland County to Tarrytown in Westchester County and carries I-87 and I-287 over it. The bridge was rebuilt back in 2017 as a cable-stayed bridge and has a more modern look to it. It is by far the longest bridge in New York State, spanning 3.1 miles long!

The Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse was built way back around 1880 and still standing strong to this way, was once used to navigate ships thru a crowded Hudson River. It was officially turned off in 1961 but still stands as a maritime landmark, showing off old school Hudson History.

The riverfront is also a short distance away from Tarrytown Station, which is served by Metro North's Hudson Line. It also connects with Tarrytowns historic Main Street and the main parts of the town.

Overall, the Tarrytown and Sleep Hollow Riverwalk is a great way to ger away from the big city for a calm and relaxing day out. Its stunning riverfront views and scenic surroundings make up for a very underrated stop along the Hudson!
