On a December morning in 1995 two Essex farmers stumbled upon the aftermath of the most infamous gangland hit since the Krays.

Inside a blue Range Rover were the blood-soaked bodies of violent drug dealers Tony Tucker, Pat Tate and Craig Rolfe. All three had been blasted in the head with a pump action shotgun.

In 1998 Jack Whomes and Michael Steele were sentenced for life for what became known as The Essex Boys murders.

Both have always insisted they’re innocent.

And now, as Whomes is finally released from prison, their claims are backed by two former senior detectives.
