History:

1883: A prominent settler arrives in a rural valley and, a year later in 1884, purchases 400-500 acres of land spanning from a local lake to a nearby mountain. He begins farming and establishing roots in the area​.

1890: The settler marries his wife, and they start a family. The couple eventually has three sons​.

Early 1890s: The family constructs their first home on the property, but in 1894, a devastating fire destroys the house. In response, they plan the construction of a new residence.

1895: The current two-storey Victorian/Colonial Revival style house is completed. The family continues to thrive on their vast estate.

1901: Tragedy strikes again when their young son dies at just 10 years old, marking a somber chapter in the family’s history.

1910s-1940s: The family gains prominence within the community. One son becomes a renowned specialist in a nearby city, while another pursues a career as an engineer​.

1946: The patriarch passes away, but his legacy continues through his family, who maintain the estate. The remaining son moves back to the family home​.

Late 20th Century: The last living family member, known for his sharp wit and memories of the estate, resides in the house until his death in 2004 at the age of 105.

1999: The property is acquired by a national conservation organization. Over time, the house falls into disrepair due to neglect and vacancy.

2019: The house gains attention when it is featured in a film, showcasing its historical significance and unique architecture.

2020s: Efforts to restore the property increase as a local preservation group secures a $350,000 grant. However, legal complications regarding ownership slow progress.

Present Day: The house, though deteriorating, remains a cherished part of local heritage, one of the few remaining historical estates in the area. Restoration efforts are ongoing.
