Berklee Bass Department Holiday Retrospective 2023

Описание к видео Berklee Bass Department Holiday Retrospective 2023

It's been an amazing year in the Bass Department. Here is our annual track, put together thru the year with contributions from our visiting artists, all tracked in the comforts of my office at Berklee!

The original plan was to release a compilation of the last 11 years of annual tracks and videos. Then Will Lee showed up, spent about 15 minutes in my office with the red light on and things changed. His groove made me start to rethink things.
Then Michael League surprised us with a visit the following week and I put in his hands Anthony Jackson's "Career Girl" bass, turned on Pro Tools and he was the catalyst, along with Will, that got me back in the game... Then came Patitucci, playing my old '60 stack knob, then Victor staying up late doing his editing and playing Magic. John was in residence again and picked up the upright.. .first take. took about 90 seconds of recording. Then Linda Oh came in... Same! PRO'S!
TOOL was in town on Nov 14-15 and Justin came over, first to do an amazing clinic with our students, and then the next day brought in some amazing JC riffs that added, as usual, a whole no spectrum to our Retrospective.
Dave Matthews Band was in town just after and Jeff Coffin came over to share some wisdom with our students ( in Wooten Woodsheds) and had his horn with him. Quick setup and we were rolling. 3 solo takes and all brilliant, so we mixed all 3 in!
And finally, Omar Hakim was in town for a Madonna Extravaganza at Berklee and came over late one night and became the mortar to tie all of these musical tiles together.
Editing, Mixing, and culling photos and clips from the entire year rounded out the project, and like the previous 11 years, we just came in under the wire! Hope you ENJOY our trip thru 2023.
