Motukokako, Piercy Island or the Hole in the Rock as it is commonly known is the site for my thesis project in my final year of architecture school at Unitec, Auckland.

I made this trip with a couple of high school friends, enduring the full day of mountainous hiking to the Cape Brett Hut and Lighthouse where we stayed overnight. Staying at the hut is an excellent experience of remoteness in a powerful and at time unpredictable natural environment.

The reason for choosing such a sensitive and demanding site, Motukokako, is to demonstrate the necessity of integrating digital surveying, design and build processes in such an inaccessible site with analogue processes.
