Interview with Mr. Ashok Kumar Shahi, the owner of Everest Kinoko Pvt. Ltd. Working in a restaurant and running a supermarket for some time in Japan, he was fascinated by various types of mushrooms sold in Japan and developed a keen interest in mushroom cultivation. He met a knowledgeable Japanese mentor who provided him intensive training and within three months, he learned how to cultivate mushrooms. He went back to Nepal and started mushroom cultivation and business with his company Everest Kinoko in Kathmandu. Now he teaches how to cultivate mushrooms to young farmers in Nepal and even those from Bhutan. He emphasizes the importance of bringing various knowledge and ideas from abroad and utilizing them in Nepal.
