"Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" is an allegory about the spiritual journey from death to birth which all God-seekers must undertake. As such, it's a worthy companion to the 14th-century English mysticism of Richard Rolle, Walter Hilton, Dame Julian of Norwich, and the anonymous author of "The Cloud of Unknowing."
