Atomic/Salomon Shift vs. Marker Duke PT

Описание к видео Atomic/Salomon Shift vs. Marker Duke PT

It's easy to get confused on which binding you should consider buying. These are not cheap pieces of equipment and we want to ensure you buy the correct one. Join Riley on a little deep dive to each binding along with a little tutorial on the difference and functionalities.

Atomic Shift:
We found the Shift MNC to be a complete GAME CHANGER when it was released a few years ago. It revolutionized alpine tour skiing. Are there glitches with it? Absolutely, nothing is perfect, does it do what it's supposed to well? Absolutely.

Cons: Plastic. Plastic is brittle and the toe piece cannot take a beating from clearing snow or ice off the bottom off the bottom of your boot. We've seen wings snap from this. Also, we're not huge fans of the AFD (anti-friction-device) construction. We've seen the ladder fail (more common for people who are skiing in alpine soles and or gripwalk). Brake retention when touring.

Pros: Light (for this world). We're not comparing apples to oranges, this is not the Salomon MTN or Atomic Backland, so anyone who is touring 60% or more might want to look at a more tour specific pin binding. Skis great!!!! This thing shreds. It is also din compatible. I would say this binding is for someone who is a 50/50 or even 60/40 inbounds to out of bounds skier.

Marker Duke PT:
This binding is a straight haus. It was Marker's response to Amer's Shift MNC. When they came out with the Shift, everyone instantly knew the binding game had significantly changed (for the better), and we were eagerly awaiting Marker's response, and they killed it!!!

Cons: Heavy. Brake retention.
Pros: Skis ridiculously well. I think it's one of the best skiing free-ride bindings in the market. The response is incredible, and you can feel the amount of leverage it has. Tons of metal in the toe with a kick plate for ice and snow clearing off the bottom of your boot. This binding was made for the 60/80 and up inbounds to out-of-bounds skier. Definitely for someone who is doing the occasional backcountry trip and spends their time in the resort.
