From the age of 19 in the league
He started playing football seriously from Tehran Pass Academy until he entered the Premier League in 1994 at the age of 19 with the adults of this team.
He was a farmer in Tehran for 74 years, then joined the Persepolis Tehran team (Piroozi) and in 4 years with 89 games he was able to score 13 goals.

From Austria to say goodbye
In 1998, when he was 23 years old, he joined the Austrian team Sturm Graz and after a year, he went to Charleroi, Belgium, until in 2002, he signed a contract with Al-Shabab in the UAE.
From 2003 to 2004, he spent one year in Persepolis and one year in Sepahan, until in 2005, when he was 30 years old, he left football with a railway shirt.
I made a mistake
He said in an interview:
I should not have gone to Charleroi, Belgium after Sturm Graz, Austria, it was also wrong for me to go to Al-Shabab until I returned to the critical period of Persepolis.
Anyway, my bad choices and then my luck kept me from growing.

In the national team
Since 1996, he gained the experience of participating in the senior national team, and until 2003, he was able to score 4 goals in 67 games.
Coaching
Minavand did not work much in the field of coaching and only spent 2 years at home and one year at SpeedRoad Rasht.

First marriage in Austria
Mehrdad Minavand married an Iranian girl for the first time during his stay in Austria, and the result of this life is a boy named Arya who grew up in Austria.

This life eventually ended in separation after a few years due to his wife's unwillingness to live in Iran.

Mehrdad, who was more or less as successful in football as his football, said in an interview:
Thank God I have a good voice, if years ago I had to choose between football and music, I would choose music.

I put together an album that cost a lot, but it turned out very well, don't think that I didn't go to singing class, I went to all these classes.

Mehrdad Minavand has been hospitalized in the ICU of Laleh Hospital since late January 2016 due to 80% of his lung involvement with the corona virus and due to his deteriorating condition.
Unfortunately, this athlete could not resist despite many efforts and passed away on February 29, 2017 at the age of 45.
Burial place
The body of Mehrdad Minavand was buried next to Jafar Kashani and Ebrahim Ashtiani, two Persepolis players in the fifties, on Thursday, February 30, 2010 in the Namavaran Behesht Zahra section of Tehran.
