Translation:

FOREVER

Everything is here,
Everything you love, and all what you are.
All that you yearn toward, and everything you hold dear.
Everything is standing in front of you,
so near, so near, and is a part of you forever.

The Time of Light are carefully touching our lives.
Stroking the hours that are drifting away
From light you came and to light you will be.
And the light will shine forever.

You took our cry away when it was dark and it was cold.
You came with life when the death stood there, black and salty.
You became a light, and it’s all here.
Everythig you love and all what you are.
All that you yearn toward and everything you hold dear.
Everything is standing in front of you,
so near, so near, and is a part of you forever.

The new assembly hall was built for the University's centennial in 1911. With its enormous walls and skylights, the hall was designed for artistic decoration. The decorations of the hall are painted by Norwegian painter and printmaker Edvard Munch (1863–1944). 11 paintings were received by the University on 19 September 1916. "The Sun" (middle), "Alma Mater" (right) and "History" (left) are the main pictures. Munch’s paintings in the University Aula are a major work within Norwegian monumental painting and belong to the national treasures. These 11 oil paintings that cover the walls are the only decorations by Edvard Munch that can still be viewed in their original context. This hall were used for the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony until 1990. Today it is used for concerts, major academic and cultural events and festivities.
